Autumn teak check: is your teak deck ready for the new season?
After the season ends it is the right time to inspect your teak deck. Sun, salt, moisture, washing and daily use all leave a mark.
You do not need to be an expert to spot the first signs of wear. Answer 5 short questions and find out whether your teak is in the green, yellow or red zone.

Reading the Maestral
In summer along the Šibenik channel, the NW Maestral typically fills in around midday and peaks 14:00–17:00. Plan swimming stops before, cruising after.
Bora warning signs
Clear, cold northerly gusts from the Velebit range can rise within an hour. Watch pressure jumps and lenticular clouds over the mountains — seek shelter early.
Jugo (SE) at a glance
Warm, humid SE wind builds waves over long fetch. Once it settles in it can last 2–3 days. Choose leeward bays on the mainland side.
Navigating Krka estuary
Respect no-wake zones inside Skradinski Buk approaches. Anchoring is restricted in the national park — use ACI Skradin or arrange a park mooring in advance.
Best anchorages near Šibenik
Zlarin (north side), Prvić Luka, Kaprije and Žirje offer calm holding in prevailing NW conditions. Check swell direction before overnight stays.
