• Reading the Maestral

  In summer along the Šibenik channel, the NW Maestral typically fills in around midday and peaks 14:00–17:00. Plan swimming stops before, cruising after.

• Bora warning signs

  Clear, cold northerly gusts from the Velebit range can rise within an hour. Watch pressure jumps and lenticular clouds over the mountains — seek shelter early.

• Jugo (SE) at a glance

  Warm, humid SE wind builds waves over long fetch. Once it settles in it can last 2–3 days. Choose leeward bays on the mainland side.

• Navigating Krka estuary

  Respect no-wake zones inside Skradinski Buk approaches. Anchoring is restricted in the national park — use ACI Skradin or arrange a park mooring in advance.

• Best anchorages near Šibenik

  Zlarin (north side), Prvić Luka, Kaprije and Žirje offer calm holding in prevailing NW conditions. Check swell direction before overnight stays.
